UP AND RUNNING

For just a few dollars,

you can treat your fall

table to a new runner.

Cut prewashed burlap

to size and use a

T-pin to separate

and remove threads,

making an inch of

fringe on all sides.

Hot-glue on a border

of wide, flat trim.

All the trimmings

The luxe textures o f brusn fringe and satin ribbon take

hum ble burlap up a notch. To trim a curtain panel as

shown on

page 54,

lay it out flat, w rong side up. Glue

ribbon to the inside edge o f the panel so about half an

inch o f ribbon peeks out, gathering the ribbon as you

glue to make a slight ruffle. Then glue the fla t part o f the

fringe to the ribbon so the fringe extends about an inch

beyond the ribbon. Trims usually can’t be machine-

washed, so it’s best to spot-clean trim m ed curtains.
